Today as delegates from 40 different nations convene at Annapolis, MD for a Middle-East peace conference between Israel and its Arab neighbors, a mid-level Syrian delegation headed by deputy foreign minister Faysal Mekdad drags its tail among the conferee’s begging for attention. The schism in the Administration foreign policy over Syria portrays the overall division in Congress over the wisdom of the policies of President Bush who have committed his administration to implement his new vision in creating the New Middle-East where the promotion of democracy, freedom and the rule of law are the cornerstone for the region long term stability and the world security. One camp led by Vice President Dick Cheney, still believe in the ideals which instigated the war in Iraq and led the President and Congress to carry out the military adventure to topple one of the most atrocious dictators the world has known. الموضوعية في النقد البناء لأي ديانة سماوية تبني جسوراً بين الأديان وتخفف من حدة الأصولية المأخوذة من صلب و جوهر تلك الأديان. و لكن للأسف الشديد أن معظم من يدعون الموضوعية اليوم في إنتقادهم لديانة ما، يلبسون ثياب الإعتدال والحيادية في كتاباتهم و أرائهم و لكنهم في الحقيقة يبثوا سموم التعصب الديني ليخدموا مصالحهم العقائدية و يشعلوا نار الكراهية والبغض في صدور المؤمنيين في تلك الأديان. منذ عدة أشهر و في رحلاتي اليومية على الإنترنت كنت قد وجدت من المواقع الناقدة للدين الإسلامي، و قد أصبح منها ماهب و دب على الإنترنت هذه الأيام، موقع يدعى بالناقد. Following up on my previous post "Academic Terrorism" I found this article on the net that brings to the front some of the tactics used in US media to terrorise and scilence any critic who dares to speak up against Israel. In my current most interesting read for one of the most respected Western Scholars of Islamic and Middle-Eastern history professor Bernard Lewis book " The Middle East, a brief history of the last 2000 years", I have encountered one of the most fascinating fact about the way Islam looked and regulated the trade in humans throughout the middle-ages. Despite the well publicised myth regarding the outlawed position of slavery in Islam since the seventh century, yet to my surprise I found that not only most Islamic States have allowed the salve trade to go on without resriction, but most have also encoureged it and some have even resisted the call for ending it.
